Mishebairach - Prayer for the Sick

Jewish tradition ordains that whenever the Torah is read we are granted a special and uniquely opportune moment to invoke blessing for those in need of divine intervention. From time immemorial it has therefore been the custom to recite a "Mi Sheberach" (prayer for the sick) on behalf of people who are ill.

May He who blessed our fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Moses, Aaron, David and Solomon, bless these sick persons because we pledge charity, without a vow, for his/her sake. In this merit may the Holy One, blessed be He, be filled with mercy for him/her, to restore him/her to health and to cure him/her, to strengthen him and to invigorate him/her. And may He hasten to send him/her from heaven a complete recovery to his/her to his two hundred and forty eight bodily parts and three hundred and sixty five veins among the other sick people of Israel, a healing of spirit and a healing of body.
Let us say, AMEN!
