Lessons in Character from the Stories of Our Prophets, explores six intriguing, disturbing, and controversial biblical personalities and events from the times of the Prophets: Jephthah’s daughter, the rise and fall of King Saul, Ruth’s migration to Israel, King David and Bathsheba, the wonders of Elisha, and Jonah and the fish.
Through textual analysis and by exploring the ideas offered by classic biblical commentaries, this course offers a snapshot of the first Jewish commonwealth, an era that lasted nearly one thousand years, and probes the aforementioned personalities within their broad historical and sociological contexts, allowing us to reach deep into the essence of these figures and events.
At first it may seem that these stories are full of questions. We will discover, however, that they are full of timeless answers to our innermost questions about life.
